Ingredients:

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon red cinnamon candy oil or red cinnamon extract
  • Red food coloring
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Directions:

  1. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine granulated sugar, light corn syrup, and water. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely.
  2. Attach a candy thermometer to the side of the saucepan, making sure it does not touch the bottom.
  3. Continue boiling without stirring until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  4. Remove from heat immediately and stir in the red cinnamon candy oil and a few drops of red food coloring.
  5. Pour the hot candy mixture onto a greased or silicone mat and let it cool slightly until it is safe to handle.
  6. Once cooled enough, pull and twist the candy to incorporate air and create a glossy texture, or simply pour into molds for a smoother finish.
  7. Break into bite-sized pieces and dust with powdered sugar to prevent sticking.
  8. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
