Ingredients

For the Cake Layer:

  • 1 pound (about 450g) sponge cake or pound cake (cut into cubes)
(you can also use store-bought cake or biscuits)

For the Strawberry Layer:

  • 4 cups fresh strawberries (sliced)
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

For the Cream Layer:

  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional Cream Cheese Layer (for extra richness):

  • 1 cup cream cheese (softened)
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the Strawberries

  1. Wash and slice the strawberries.
  2. In a bowl, mix strawberries with sugar and lemon juice.
  3. Let them sit for 20–30 minutes until they release juices and become syrupy.

2. Make the Cream

  1. In a large bowl, add heavy cream.
  2. Beat with a mixer until soft peaks form.
  3. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract.
  4. Continue beating until fluffy and thick.

3. (Optional) Prepare Cream Cheese Layer

  1. In another bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth.
  2. Add sugar and vanilla extract.
  3. Mix until creamy.
  4. Fold in a little whipped cream to make it lighter.

4. Assemble the Dessert (Layering)

In a glass dish (like in the picture):

  1. First Layer: Cake cubes (spread evenly)
  2. Second Layer: Spoon some strawberry mixture with juice
  3. Third Layer: Add cream (or cream cheese mixture)
  4. Repeat layers:
    • Cake → Strawberries → Cream
  5. Top Layer: Finish with a thick layer of strawberries

5. Chill

  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 3–4 hours
  • Best if left overnight (flavors become richer)

🍽️ Serving

  • Serve chilled
  • Scoop with a spoon (like a trifle)
  • Garnish with extra strawberries if you want

💡 Tips

  • You can replace cake with biscuits or ladyfingers
  • Add chocolate chips or nuts for variation
  • Use whipped topping instead of fresh cream for easier prep
