Ingredients
For the Beef Patties
- 500 g (1 lb) ground beef
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
For the Burger Sauce
- 4 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tsp yellow mustard
For Assembly
- 8 large iceberg lettuce leaves
- 2 tomatoes, sliced
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 2 tbsp chopped green onions
- Pickle slices (optional)
Instructions - Step 1: Prepare the Lettuce
- Carefully separate the iceberg lettuce leaves.
- Wash them thoroughly under cold water.
- Pat dry with paper towels.
- Choose the largest leaves to use as the top and bottom “buns.”
- Step 2: Make the Burger Patties
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Mix gently until just combined.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions.
- Shape each portion into a round burger patty about ½ inch thick.
- Press a small indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb.
- Step 3: Cook the Patties
- Heat a grill, grill pan, or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Place the patties on the hot surface.
- Cook for 4–5 minutes on the first side.
- Flip and cook for another 3–4 minutes, or until desired doneness.
- During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and allow it to melt.
- Step 4: Prepare the Sauce
- In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard.
- Stir until smooth and creamy.
- Step 5: Assemble the Burgers
- Lay two large lettuce leaves on a plate.
- Add tomato slices.
- Place the cheeseburger patty on top.
- Add chopped green onions and pickles if using.
- Spread or drizzle the burger sauce over the patty.
- Cover with another large lettuce leaf.
- Secure with a skewer or toothpick if needed.
