Ingredients
- 500 g broccoli, cut into florets
- ½ cup sliced almonds
- 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp chili flakes (optional)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Method
- Toast almonds: Heat a large pan over medium heat. Add almonds and dry-toast for 2–4 minutes, stirring often, until golden. Remove and set aside.
- Cook broccoli: Add oil/butter to the same pan. Add broccoli and 2–3 tbsp water. Cover and cook for 5–7 minutes, until bright green and just tender.
- Season: Add garlic, salt, pepper, and chili flakes. Cook uncovered for 2–3 minutes, stirring, until the broccoli gets lightly browned.
- Finish: Turn off the heat. Add lemon juice and toss.
- Serve: Sprinkle the toasted almonds over the broccoli and serve hot.
Tip: For the closest look to the photo, let the broccoli brown slightly before adding the almonds at the very end so they stay crisp.
