Ingredients
- 3 large ripe bananas, mashed
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
- ½ cup chocolate chips (optional)
👩🍳 Instructions
- Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line it with parchment paper. - Prepare the bananas:
Mash the ripe bananas in a large bowl until mostly smooth, leaving a few small pieces for texture. - Mix the wet ingredients:
Add melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until everything is well combined. - Combine the dry ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. - Make the batter:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture. Stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix, or the bread can become dense. - Add extras:
Fold in walnuts, pecans, or chocolate chips if desired. - Bake:
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for approximately 50–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs. - Cool:
Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10–15 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack and allow it to cool completely.
🍯 Serving Suggestion
Slice while slightly warm and serve with soft butter, honey, or a drizzle of maple syrup. The result is a tender, moist banana bread with a beautifully golden, slightly crisp crust.
