Ingredients
- 2 cups vanilla ice cream
- 1 cup very cold full-fat milk
- 3 tbsp chocolate syrup
- 2 tbsp powdered milk
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 4–5 ice cubes (optional)
For the chocolate version
- Add 1½ tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder in addition to the chocolate syrup.
Method
- Add the cold milk, powdered milk, cream, chocolate syrup, vanilla, and ice cream to a blender.
- Blend on high for about 30–45 seconds. Don’t over-blend—the less it warms up, the thicker it stays.
- For an especially thick consistency, add another ½–1 cup of ice cream and pulse briefly.
- Pour immediately into chilled glasses.
- Drizzle chocolate syrup over the top and add a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream if desired.
Secret to the texture in the picture
Use more ice cream and less milk. For an extra-thick shake, start with 3 cups ice cream + ¾ cup milk and blend only until smooth.
