Instructions
1. Prep
Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F)
Grease and line two cake pans
2. Mix dry ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt
3. Add wet ingredients
Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla
Mix until smooth
4. Add hot liquid
Slowly pour in hot water or coffee
Batter will be thin—that’s the secret to moist cake!
5. Bake
Pour into pans
Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean
6. Cool
Let cakes cool completely before frosting

Ingredients
1 cup butter (softened)
3½ cups powdered sugar
½ cup cocoa powder
½ cup milk
2 tsp vanilla
Steps
Beat butter until creamy
Add cocoa + sugar gradually
Pour in milk and vanilla
Beat until smooth and fluffy
