Ingredients

  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and grated
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp grated onion (optional)
  • Oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Grate the potatoes and squeeze out as much excess liquid as possible.
  2. Add the egg, flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion. Mix well.
  3. Heat about 2–3 tbsp oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Scoop the potato mixture into the pan and flatten into thin pancakes.
  5. Fry for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Transfer to paper towels to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve hot with sour cream, yogurt, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Tip: Squeezing the potatoes very dry is the key to getting them extra crispy.
