Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2¼ tsp instant yeast
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup softened butter
  • ½ cup chocolate chips
  • ¾ cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 egg + 1 tbsp milk for egg wash (optional)

Method

  1. Make dough: Mix flour, yeast, sugar, salt, warm milk, and egg. Knead for 5 minutes.
  2. Add butter: Knead in softened butter for another 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. First rise: Cover and let rise for 1–1½ hours, until doubled.
  4. Add fillings: Gently fold in chocolate chips and blueberries. Avoid crushing the berries.
  5. Shape: Form into a round loaf and place on baking paper or in a greased loaf pan.
  6. Second rise: Cover and rest for 30–45 minutes.
  7. Bake: Brush with egg wash if desired. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 35–45 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Cool: Let rest for at least 30 minutes before slicing.

Tips: If using frozen blueberries, add them straight from the freezer. If the top browns too quickly, cover loosely with foil. For the beautiful golden crust in your photo, sprinkle a little sugar on top before baking.
