Ingredients

  • 1 large green cabbage
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup cooked rice
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt

Tomato Sauce

  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes
  • ½ cup beef or chicken broth
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Remove the cabbage core and boil the cabbage for 5–7 minutes, removing the softened leaves as they loosen. Let them cool.
  2. Mix ground beef, onion, garlic, cooked rice, egg, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Place 2–3 tablespoons of filling in each cabbage leaf. Fold the sides inward and roll tightly.
  4. Mix all sauce ingredients together.
  5. Spread a little sauce in a baking dish and arrange the cabbage rolls seam-side down.
  6. Pour the remaining sauce over the rolls and cover with foil.
  7. Bake at 190°C (375°F) for 50–60 minutes, until the meat is fully cooked and the cabbage is tender.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes for a slightly caramelized top.
  9. Serve hot with plenty of tomato sauce.
