1. Ingredients
    • 4 eggs, separated
    • ¾ cup (150 g) sugar
    • ½ cup (115 g) melted butter
    • 1 cup (125 g) flour
    • 2 cups (500 ml) milk, lukewarm
    • 1 tsp vanilla
    • 1 tbsp water
    • Pinch of salt
    • Powdered sugar, optional
    Method
    1. Heat oven to 170°C/340°F. Grease an 8×8-inch glass baking dish.
    2. Beat egg yolks + sugar until pale and creamy.
    3. Add melted butter, vanilla and water. Mix.
    4. Gradually mix in the flour.
    5. Slowly add the lukewarm milk, mixing until smooth.
    6. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites + salt until soft peaks form.
    7. Gently fold the whites into the batter. Don’t fully mix—some fluffy pieces should remain.
    8. Pour into the dish.
    9. Bake 50–60 minutes, until the top is deeply golden and the center has a slight wobble.
    10. Cool completely before cutting.
Important: The cake naturally forms soft/fluffy top + creamy middle + firmer bottom, giving it the layered look in your photo.
