Serving and Savoring

When it comes to serving and savoring a healthy protein chocolate mousse made with just three ingredients, presentation is key. Not only does a well-presented dish entice the taste buds, but it also elevates the overall dining experience. There are a variety of creative toppings that can transform your mousse from simple to spectacular, ensuring it stands out on any table or social media feed.

One popular topping for this dessert includes grated dark chocolate. A light sprinkle of finely grated dark chocolate adds richness and a touch of sophistication. The slight bitterness of the dark chocolate beautifully complements the mousse’s sweetness, creating a harmonious flavor balance. Additionally, it introduces an inviting texture that enhances the overall mouthfeel of the dish.

Another delightful option is flaky sea salt, which can be added to the mousse just before serving. This unexpected twist offers a contrast that elevates the dessert, intensifying the chocolate flavor while providing a delightful crunch. The combination of rich chocolate and a hint of salt is both delicious and visually appealing, making your dessert truly Instagram-worthy.

Fresh strawberries also make for a fantastic topping. Their vibrant red color not only enhances the visual appeal but also adds a refreshing, fruity contrast to the creamy texture of the mousse. You can slice or halve the strawberries and arrange them elegantly on top of the mousse, or serve them as a side for guests to add themselves.

Serving this healthy protein chocolate mousse can be versatile. Whether enjoyed as a treat for special occasions or a delightful addition to your everyday meals, it’s bound to impress. Encourage your friends and family to get creative with their own toppings, turning a simple dessert into a personalized masterpiece. Collaborative cooking experiences such as these make the enjoyment of a healthy protein chocolate mousse even more memorable.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups plain Greek yogurt – I recommend using 2% or 5% fat. Non-fat Greek yogurt won’t be as creamy and thick.
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • ⅓ cup cacao powder – Sifted to ensure there are no lumps.

Instructions

  1. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave. Place chocolate chips in an oven safe bowl. Microwave in 30 second increments to ensure the chocolate does not burn. (Example: Microwave for 30 seconds, stir the chocolate and then place back into the microwave.) Repeat this until the chocolate is completely melted.
  2. Make sure the melted chocolate isn’t hot. Allow it to cool down a bit before making the mousse.
  3. Add Greek yogurt, melted chocolate and cacao powder into your stand mixer bowl. If you don’t have a stand mixer, you can use a hand mixer.
  4. Use the whisk attachment and whip the mixture until combined and creamy. If you like your mousse on the thinner side, add a few splashes of milk.
  5. Cover and place the mousse into the fridge for a couple of hours or overnight. It will get thicker as it sits in the fridge.
  6. Scoop it into individual cups with a cookie scoop.
  7. Add toppings of choice. I used grated dark chocolate, flaky sea salt and sliced strawberries.
