Ingredients
For the dough:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp instant yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup warm water (approximately)
For the filling:
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Salt to taste
- 1 tbsp cooking oil
For topping:
- 1 egg, beaten
- ½ cup shredded cheese
- Chopped parsley
Instructions
- Make the dough: Mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add olive oil and warm water gradually. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rise for about 1 hour.
- Cook the filling: Heat oil in a pan. Sauté onion and garlic, add ground beef, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until the beef is fully browned and reaches 160°F (71°C). Let it cool.
- Add cheese: Mix the cooled beef with parsley and mozzarella.
- Shape the roll: Roll the dough into a large rectangle. Spread the filling evenly, leaving a small border around the edges. Roll tightly and seal the seam.
- Add topping: Place seam-side down on a lined baking tray. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle extra cheese on top.
- Bake: Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25–30 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve: Rest for 5–10 minutes, slice into thick pieces, and garnish with fresh parsley.
