- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish or cast-iron skillet.
- Prepare filling: In a bowl, gently mix blackberries, sugar, lemon juice, zest, cornstarch, and salt. Pour into baking dish.
- Make topping: In another bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk and melted butter until just combined.
- Assemble: Spoon batter evenly over the blackberry mixture (it doesn’t have to fully cover).
- Bake 35–45 minutes, until topping is golden brown and filling is bubbling.
- Cool slightly before serving.
