Crispy Garlic Breaded Mushrooms
Ingredients:
- 1 pound (about 450g) fresh mushrooms, cleaned and stems trimmed
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crispiness)
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)
Instructions:
- In a medium-sized bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create the seasoned flour.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk to create an egg wash.
- Dip each mushroom into the seasoned flour, ensuring it’s well-coated, then dip it into the egg wash, and finally, coat it with breadcrumbs. Press the breadcrumbs onto the mushrooms to adhere well.
- Place the breaded mushrooms on a baking sheet and let them rest for about 10 minutes. This helps the coating adhere better.
- In a large skillet, heat enough vegetable oil for frying over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the breaded mushrooms in the oil, making sure not to overcrowd the skillet. Fry until golden brown on all sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried mushrooms to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- Optional: Garnish with fresh chopped parsley for a burst of color and flavor.
- Serve the crispy garlic breaded mushrooms hot, with your favorite dipping sauce.
