Ingredients
- For the Filling:
- 6 medium apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith), peeled, cored, and sliced
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- For the Oat Crisp Topping:
- 1 cup rolled oats
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup brown sugar, packed
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Prep & Heat: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
- Make the Filling: Toss the sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice in a large bowl. Spread them evenly into the bottom of your prepared baking dish.
- Mix the Topping: In a separate bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the cold cubed butter and use your fingertips or a pastry cutter to work the butter in until coarse crumbs form.
- Assemble & Bake: Evenly scatter the oat crumble over the apple layer. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the apples are tender when pierced with a fork and the topping is golden brown and bubbling around the edges.
- Serve: Let it cool for 10 minutes, then serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
