Chinese Chicken on a Stick Recipe (Chinese Skewers)

Ingredients:

For the Marinade:

  • 1.5 lbs (680g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder

For the Skewers:

  • Bamboo skewers, soaked in water for at least 30 minutes

For Garnish (optional):

  • Sesame seeds
  • Chopped green onions

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, combine all the marinade ingredients: soy sauce, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, honey, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and Chinese five-spice powder.
  2. Add the bite-sized chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, allowing the flavors to infuse.
  3. Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
  4. Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the soaked bamboo skewers.
